What is a Botox brow lift?

Have you ever wondered how some people keep a smooth brow and youthful-looking eyes? The secret might be the Botox brow lift!

A Botox brow lift is a non-surgical, injectable treatment that smooths frown lines between your brows as well as crow’s feet and forehead lines. When expertly injected, Botox (Botulinum Toxin Type A) injections can also elevate the height of your eyebrows. Botox works by relaxing the muscles that cause dynamic lines and wrinkles and temporarily smoothing your skin on the outside. In the case of a Botox brow lift, the forehead muscles pull up the relaxed muscles between the brows, thus elevating the brows and opening-up the eyes, for a more youthful and wide-awake appearance.

At ELZ Aesthetics here in Cheshire, Dr Ahmed is well-versed in this very popular technique and offers Botox injections to those who wish to take away that heavy eye-lid appearance.

The beauty of the Botox brow lift is that it can help smooth out very deep wrinkles without surgery. Glabellar lines (frown lines) can really benefit from this treatment and can be effectively smoothed for months at a time. A traditional, surgical brow lift requires a general anaesthetic, incisions and the removal of your skin; something you might not wish to or indeed, need to have done.

Am I a good candidate for the Botox brow lift?

Botox is generally only recommended as anti-wrinkle injections in those aged 18 or over. Generally, younger people tend not to have dynamic lines and wrinkles or indeed, sagging skin around the eyes and therefore wouldn’t really benefit from this procedure.

If you are noticing signs of skin ageing, expression lines and heavy eyelids, this treatment can be a perfect way to rejuvenate your look. Both men and women can benefit from a Botox brow lift and suitability for treatment will be ascertained in a no-obligation consultation with Dr Ahmed.

What happens in a Botox treatment for a brow lift?

The procedure itself is relatively straightforward and takes around 10 minutes to administer. As Botox is injected using very fine needles, there is very little discomfort and numbing cream is generally not needed. Dr Ahmed will place the Botox injections in a series of points on the forehead and possibly around the eye area.

After the treatment, you may see some slight bumps where the injections have gone in but these will subside very quickly. Dr Ahmed will give you some aftercare instructions, such as not bending forward for at least 4 hours after treatment and avoiding excessive exercise, hot baths, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours’ post-treatment.

You should be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately after the treatment, so long as you adhere to the doctor’s aftercare advice.

When will I see results from a Botox brow lift?

You should start to see results in as little as 24 hours but full effect can take up to 2 weeks, when Dr Ahmed will invite you back to the Cheshire clinic for a review and top up treatment if required. This will ensure that you get the most pleasing outcome.

Your results can last anywhere between 3 and 6 months and it is recommended that you keep up to date with your treatments, as it has been found that with regular use, Botox can indeed prevent further wrinkles from forming.

Is it safe?

Overall, Botox injections are considered very safe for most people. However, there is a risk of some side-effects to be aware of. You may see some slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site and this is quite normal and will subside in a few days. Other mild side effects from Botox brow lift injections can include the following:

• Headaches
• Soreness
• Numbness

Serious side-effects are extremely rare. However, you should seek medical advice right away if you experience the following symptoms:

• Breathing difficulties
• Droopy brows or eyelids (this can be remedied by your doctor)
• Problems eating or swallowing
• Changes in speech

Ensure that you receive treatment with Botox by a fully-qualified and licensed medical practitioner. Botox is a prescribed drug and should never be injected by a non-medical professional.

In summary:

A Botox brow lift can be extremely effective to treat dynamic wrinkles (expression lines) such as those between your eyebrows and can elevate the height of the brows for a more youthful look. It can also be combined with other procedures such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). Botox is a temporary solution for frown lines and combines with good skin care and a healthy lifestyle, you can maintain a youthful and glowing skin appearance for years to come.
